We’re hiring: Content Manager
Canada Powered by Women (CPW) is looking for a full-time Content Manager to manage and oversee all activities associated with CPW’s editorial content. This is a contract role through December 31, 2025, with the potential for extension or renewal on an annual basis. This role reports to the National Marketing Director.

The role
-Manage all activities associated with CPW’s editorial content, including:
– Overseeing the story bank and content calendar, taking a leading role in the creation of quarterly content lineups with input from the editorial committee.
– Participate in CPW’s editorial review process to ensure published content aligns with CPW’s mission, tone, and influence strategy.
– Providing insights and updates on scheduled feature and secondary stories in alignment with the news-cycle.
– Interviewing, drafting and editing bi-weekly Perspectives newsletter stories in alignment with the CPW brand, with input from the national marketing director and CEO.
– Drafting, scheduling and sending the bi-weekly newsletter in Mailchimp.
– Publishing stories on the website and appropriately boosting across social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Instagram).
– Directly and with agency partners, execute content strategies aligned with CPW’s editorial pillars, ensuring content is relevant to engaged women and supports CPW’s advocacy and influence efforts.
– Consistently connect content back to CPW’s research and four editorial pillars—energy interconnectedness, transformation of the energy system, Canada’s role as a global leader, and technology/innovation.
– Use CPW’s survey data and research insights to shape narratives, linking stories back to key themes that matter to engaged women.
– Manage all CPW social media channels and help drive wider audience reach and engagement through relatable and timely content, a consistent voice, and regular posting.
– Across channels, continually review metrics, analyze results, and recommend and carry out appropriate adjustments to plans where needed.
– Collaborate with agency partners and specialists to ensure CPW’s content is discoverable and engaging across platforms, leveraging search optimization and content amplification where appropriate.
– Contribute to strategies for amplifying CPW’s content and reach, including linking to previous content, leveraging newsletters effectively, and curating third-party content where relevant.
– Aligned to the news cycle, oversee and contribute to diverse content formats, including explainers, research-based articles, media statements, op-eds, personal stories, and social-first content.
– Become an expert in the CPW brand and tone of voice ensuring appropriate application of the brand in writing, review and editing of all content, and with marketing communications in all paid, owned and earned channels. Support and provide expertise to agency partners in their application of the brand through training and the review and editing process.
– Network on behalf of CPW and occasionally attend or participate in events. Capture content for CPW social media and other channels at events (either in person or in collaboration with an on-site team member).
– Participate collaboratively and actively in various CPW team, agency, Board, and committee meetings and initiatives.
– Oversee the day-to-day work of a marketing coordinator (a co-op student role) and provide guidance and coaching.
Your expertise
– 5+ years in a content management specialist or manager role. This role also requires hands-on writing for a variety of channels including the bi-weekly newsletter and website.
– Post-secondary education and work experience in journalism, communications, or marketing, with roles focused on both writing and digital content development and delivery.
– Ability to assess and evaluate complex concepts and distill into easy-to-understand and compelling written and visual content.
– Understanding of brand and the application of tone of voice in various types of writing, editorial and digital marketing materials.
– Strong familiarity with Canadian Press style guidelines and application in all marketing and communication materials.
– Preference for candidates familiar with the Canadian energy sector and energy issues and policies, including different energy sources (oil and gas, LNG, nuclear, etc.), technologies (e.g., digital innovations, carbon capture and storage), and ESG (environment, social and governance) aspects.
– A data-informed approach, with research, measurement and analysis an inherent part of your work.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A portfolio of published work that demonstrates your expertise.
– Demonstrated ability to excel in a dynamic environment, quickly react to changing priorities, and flexibly adjust work.
– Familiarity and comfort using a variety of digital programs and applications, including but not limited to: MS 365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel); Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram); LinkedIn; X; Adobe Creative Suite; Canva; Hootsuite; and MailChimp. Note: CPW works in an MS 365 environment that is highly collaborative.
– Some experience using artificial intelligence (AI) platforms for writing (e.g., ChatGPT) along with an interest and ability to expand the use of AI as a tool for process and efficiency improvements in CPW editorial.
– Comfort and ability to quickly learn new digital platforms and programs as required.
– Experience and comfort building relationships with and working with agency partners, liaising and working with Board members (senior and executive leaders), and coordinating and engaging volunteers.
– Experience managing projects and project budgets.
Terms and conditions
– CPW offers a hybrid work environment. Two in-office days (7.5 hrs/day) in the Calgary downtown office during business hours are required weekly, including Tuesdays. The remaining hours can be worked remotely from your location of choice within the Calgary region.
– You may be asked to attend meetings outside of standard business hours up to a few times per month. Travel to other areas of Canada may be required up to a few times yearly.
– It is our expectation you will have your own office equipment (mobile and laptop). CPW will provide a Microsoft 365 license and access to all required software and programs.
– The contract will specify a three-month probationary period.
– Paid vacation can be negotiated as part of this contract.
